The Haynes FM Radio Advent Calendar is a must have gift for your favourite technophile at Christmas. The format is familiar but the contents are very different with a radio component behind each door. Each one has its own activity to demonstrate how it is used electronically and gradually the radio builds up until it is complete on Christmas Eve. But you are not kept waiting that long for the radio advent calendar to burst into life - it will start to receive FM radio signals on day 9. The remaining days add features and explore different circuit configurations for a complete understanding of the possibilities.

Far from being beaten by DAB radio, FM transmissions are very much alive and well. This kit uses the latest digital signal processing technology to simplify the radio design while making it more versatile and with better reception.

  • A great surprise present for technophile
  • Activities demonstrate each component day by day
  • Build a basic functioning radio on day 9
  • Add extra features right up to Christmas Eve
  • No soldering required
  • You will also need 2x 1.5V AA batteries

Note: For ages 14+

Great fun

Half way to Christmas and I have a working radio. Much more interesting than chocolates. Comes with a detailed instruction booklet explaining each component, what it does and how to use it. I do have a lot of experience with electronics but I've been building this with my daughter (16) who is really into it. The only thing I've had to tweak is to use a longer antenna than the booklet suggested in order to get it to tune into stations. A total beginner might not realise that. Recommended. Let's see what the next week brings...
